Okie. Now my post on chennai. Though late.

Day 1:

Nothing much to talk about at the airport. Just the usual photo-takings and the shopping. Shopping at airport is pretty good. The stuffs there are pretty cheap. The Philips Sony Ericsson stereo headset costs about SGD $15. Way cheaper than the usual $30- $40 priced headsets. I should had got one there, but forgot to put the money into my bag.

The flight to Chennai was about 4hrs. It may seem short to some. But it was definitely long for me. Why? The in-flight entertainment was faulty. I had nothing to entertain myself with. Oh. I still had my MP3 player. And my history notes. There were some doing Sudoku puzzles. Wow.

We landed. Chennai's time zone is GMT + 5.5hrs. That makes the time there slower that SG's by 2 hours and a half. It was about 10+ am there, and the weather is VERY HOT. It was said that the weather there would be around SG's temperature, or even lower. Guess that only appiles to night time. We got onto to a nice tourist bus. Incredible India! That was the slogan. Chairs were nice and comfy. they also had power points! That is cool! Traffic in Chennai is. Of another level. Speed of cars are capped at 60 KM/H, and our bus' one was capped at 40+KM/H. From the airport to the hotel, it was about an hour-long ride. The traffic was close to the state of 水泄不通.

Had lunch at the Hotel. Hotel Comfort Inn Marina Towers. i may have got the name wrong. A 3-star hotel. Newly-renovated. It seriously looked like a 4-star hotel, similar to the one in ZhuHai. Golden smth-hotel. The hotel was guarded by one/two security guards, and a few small ones. Yup, those that attack anyone that is a mammal. I had a buffet-styled lunch. Mix of western and North Indian Crusine. It was delicious. I did skipped certain dishes that I did not know what it was. Overall, they were delicious... ...at the first sight. We had that for every single lunch there, again and again. i ate too much. If I had to perform Wushu later on, I am so screwed.

We left the hotel and began our school visiting tours. St. Johns International Residential School. It is one of the schools that caters to the middle class and high class income families. The students came from all parts of the world. There were some from SG too! The facilities look rundown form the outside. But the insides were.. .. .. The computer lab used state-of-art computer terminals. Every classroom was equipped with a LCD TV, and is used for lessons, replacing the traditional projector-screen combination. The computers were directly connected to the TV itself. I was awestruck. Such a luxury.. .. ..

In India, for the students at the age of 17, they study at senior high schools. They take English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry and their Mother Tongue as their subjects. They also have to take an elective subject, either Computing or Biology. The use the older maths syllabus, as they do not use GC there to calculate. The students that I saw were prepared for their lessons and would answer questions very confidently. They are egar to learn. Maybe this is some form of motivation. That is that advantage that they have over some of us. To end off, the students at St johns only pay about SGD $300+ for their school fees, which is more of a private school. They do take Cambridge Exams, but only to O levels.

Well, this is the end of day 1. It overshot.
